Wow, someone's a little antsy in the pantsy. Did I hurt your sensibilities. If you want to truth, no I haven't ever fought using Olympic rules TKD with some half good fighters, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

LoL :icon_scra well then I think it is over for TKD because AFAIK it was required by the IOC to have a electronic scoring system by 2008 or TKD would lose its olympic status.

I just don't like people talking **** when they don't know anything about it. It is the same as I go and start talking smack about any art I don't know about, you can't back it up then shut up.

TKD has it's place . If you are talking about floppy legging hopping on one foot with your hands down ... then it's place is not in Combat Sports . That is jumpy foot tag . Very fun , not combative . I have seen more blood and aggression at back yard soccer games between 12 year olds .

I have two eyes, therefore I can see crap. It's one thing if all you've seen in your life is crap but once you've seen something else, you can discern it from crap. I'm sorry, by my opinion stands, Olympic TKD sucks just as much as regular TKD, light TKD, low carb TKD, etc.

It goes with something I've been harping about for quite a while and that's teaching the tournament/rule-set of competition instead of the martial art itself.

So you say training for competition is BS and TKD in general is BS ... yeah sure go on, make one wonder if it's not called MT/KK or J/BJJ it is not recognized as a MA :bduh:

f4n4n, what's your definition of "knowing about" a martial art that allows us to comment on it? You mentioned in another threadd that I apparently can't even recognize TKD when I see it despite about a year of experience in it and a lifetime of contact with it. My krotty school kicked me out after 10 years there for daring to offer an opinion on our training methods so apparently I wasn't there long enough to know enough about it to comment, so maybe it's just me.

What's the magic number of years/hours/belts that allows us to have an opinion on a martial art? Remember, spend enough time in something and cognitive dissonance will make you like it no matter how silly it is.

BTW, Stephen Lopez rocks if he's the guy who wrote all those Black Belt Magazine articles back in the 90s about the real history of TKD. He stepped on a lot of toes there and I approve mightily.
It seems to me that the Sanjuriu Martial Art is not in guestion, but, rather the character of Mr. Galt.
