I believe it origanted from a british comedy, you put your hands to your chin, wiggle your fingers sorta pointing out and with this high pitch voice: whooo....

Well I haven't stepped in front of a large crowd in the ring/cage, but I have done other sports in front of a 10,000+ crowd.

Just embrace it, with the nervousness comes the highetned senses, the fight-or-flight response. This will help you with your performance.
