Should have Marquardt been disqualified?

You caught that too? You should apply for a ref's job.

Marquardt clearly kneed the guy when he was down again. If you watch the fight, after the knee Marquardt steps back like he knew he did another illegal knee, and he was waiting for the ref to penalize him for it.

I was also wondering if that slam broke that rule. I didn't really see the knee after that too clearly, but it looked like it was pretty close to being illegal.

Maybe it's only a spike when the opponent is raised above the head, then slammed down?

That was a major miss by Dean if indeed the rule says no spiking the head of your opponent.

Seems like Marquardt lost his balance picking him up and slammed him down as he fell forward. Dangerous, but not a blatant foul.

That's what it seems like to me too. But who knows what his intent was. Could have been a lapse in judgement.

The fight should've been stopped after the illegal knee as Leites didn't have clue where he was. When you talk about fighter safety surely things like secondary concussions and the greatly increased risks they bring are of prime importance and to allow a fighter who was clearly out to go on is dangerous.

That spike may have been worth a point deduction, it probably was but the elbow he got the point taken for wasn't worth a deuction so it balanced out.

It could have been called of for spiking, but it dose look more like he was trying to do some reveres supplex thing & slipped.

I believe the reason you're not supposed to **** with the clavicle is because it's an easy break to bone, that, when it does break, is in a good spot to flop around inside you and cause internal damage (i.e. cutting into nearby nerves and muscle)
