I was also wondering if that slam broke that rule. I didn't really see the knee after that too clearly, but it looked like it was pretty close to being illegal.
Maybe it's only a spike when the opponent is raised above the head, then slammed down?Last edited by wakarukaya; 6/08/2008 11:09pm at .

Holy fucking ****!!!!
That was a major miss by Dean if indeed the rule says no spiking the head of your opponent.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris -

The fight should've been stopped after the illegal knee as Leites didn't have clue where he was. When you talk about fighter safety surely things like secondary concussions and the greatly increased risks they bring are of prime importance and to allow a fighter who was clearly out to go on is dangerous.
That spike may have been worth a point deduction, it probably was but the elbow he got the point taken for wasn't worth a deuction so it balanced out. -
Why did they never try this....
