Low kicks ... and I'm with the crocodile whipping tail thing, but you're taking a chance with that one.

Is he one of those WC people who insists that high kicks don't work in a real fight?
If so, you should kick him in the head. That's what I did when last confronted with such a chunner.

Thanks for all the advice guys! Special thanks to Tenchu for that advice.
I agree with you White Shark that this guy should be very good and should tool me but a few things lead me to believe that I may get the upper hand:
1. Im fitter, stronger & younger
2. I have had real fights & he hasnt
3. Before I broke my ribs I did a good deal of heavy sparring muay thai style & some light sparring (in MMA) with people with real mixed backgrounds. Doesnt sound like he has sparred that much.
4. He kept trying to back out of sparring with me.
5. If he tools me is going to go on for ever about stopping muay thai & MMA as they are no good & doing Kung Fu instead.
Dont get me wrong I dont want to upset this guy as he is a mate & a nice dude BUT I kindda suggested the sparring to kinda show him that there are other martial arts out there that are perhaps more effective. I was also interested to test my style against another.
As I said fingers crossed, will post vid if/when it happens
Thanks again for your help

I think what everybody's trying to tell you is that don't underestimate somebody just because of their style. I still think you have a huge advantage over him and maybe you should just let it go. Little sparring usually means little usable skill.
How do elenchus?

I've been told jab-cross ad infinitum is a great way to handle people who don't know how to box.

If you are his real friend you would want to hurt him, bad. Hurt him so bad in the hopes he might realize his 20 years of training and no sparring was useless. Realizing that you wasted 20 years is never easy to accept. Its never too late to convert a Chunner.
Also if you did some MMA, takedowns would be good, he would be quite helpless spazing on the ground. Chunners have horrible antigrapple.

Ignorance is bliss, just be happy for your friend.
Besides, if he kicks your ass, you'll never be able to live with yourself.

Das Moose ended up converting that guy to BJJ, if memory serves. Getting double-leg-slammed really wakes people up.
