    Poser question

I know there are ways to confirm that someone is or was a SEAL, is ther a website or process to confirm someone had been a Ranger.

    Person in question.

He claims he was a Ranger and fought in Somila. Given his age I have doubts.

The only way I know of is to either have a look at an old copy of his ERB (assuming he was enlisted), and possibly his DD214. I don't know how you'd go about that, other than asking him to show one of these forms to you.

If you go to socnet.com, there's a dedicated Ranger forum that might be able to help you out. Warning: I'm not a member of socnet, and have never posted there, so I don't know the rules, or even if you're allowed to register. Sorry that I can't be more helpful.

I remember back in the day when Hawkeye was posting here, he told me that there wasn't an equivalent site for Rangers, because people tended to fraudulently claim to be SEALs more often than Rangers. But that was a number of years ago.

I remember back at that time that Hawkeye had said something about quizzing someone on the details of gold tabs/black tabs and so forth, since this wasn't something most people would know about if they weren't real Rangers.

People who are don't talk about it. One of these will defintely help you , one of these has all the classes all the way back to the mid 80's.

Note some operators records are partially sealed , but speciality schools should pop up, depending on clearances and classifications.

Wasn't there an old thread where someone linked to a group of SEALs who were trying to investigate and debunk false claims?

Ask him what the last obstacle course is in the Ranger school?

    Ask what a prussic is?

Whats the camp name in mountain phase.

And ask him when he went threw RIP?

If in Somalia ask him what Chalk he was in and what was the Sgt name of the chalk and go from their. Narrow him down the more he gives out.

I'm not sure his age is an issue -- if he is 34 this year, as his myspace page claims, he would have been 19-20 in Oct. of '93, when the "Blackhawk Down" incident occured. One of the casualties of that engagement was a 20 year old PFC from Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.

Is there something else that makes you doubt his claim?

You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it

Thank for the advice. This should come in pretty handy. except even I know that a prussic is a type of knot. (Thank you boy scouts)

Found his High School alumni page where he makes the Ranger claim as well, with dates.
