    Hell yeah! Hell no!

So, what happened to Jens Pulver?

I was recently thinking about his total pwnage by BJ Penn. What happened? Did Penn really progress that much?

Jens was really good in the past and pulled off a tough win against Penn, who didn't look like a chump back then either. Then Jens tried to turn Pro Boxer and, IIRC won his first couple fights. I have no idea what he's been doing since, however, until he turned up on TUF. And I thought he did a pretty good job as a coach. But when he fought Penn, he didn't just lose. Penn put on a freakin' clinic, getting Jens in position for subs and then letting him go just because he could.

Anyone in the know? Did Jens just quit training or what?

I seem to recall he was well under weight. BJ cut to 155 and I would assume Jens did not cut at all, so the real weight difference could have been quite large.

Jens is a natural 145 lb fighter and BJ got better since their last fight. Simple as that.

That's freaking small, featherweightish if you ask me - not that it takes anything away from him. On the contrary, it puts his defeat in a different light.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

    TUF noob
You, Suh, have insulted my honor. Pistols at dawn.

    Pride. Shooto.
Well, that just makes it even more curious. I did a little searching myself and since Jens left the UFC initially, he went 4-0 in boxing and (according to Sherdog) 9-4 in MMA with wins in Pride, the IFL, IFC and Shooto. Then he comes back to the UFC and is handed to pwnages at the hands of Lauzon and Penn. It made more sense to me when I thought he hadn't fought MMA in years.

Jens is a natural 145 lb fighter and BJ got better since their last fight. Simple as that.
*shrug* Maybe that's it. But I am still somewhat shocked that Jens got so completely handled. And it's too bad because I like him as a fighter. Hope he does well in the WEC.
