This is the worst mixed martial arts event I've watched since my friend Douglas broke his own face on a particle-board table back in high school doing a back flip off of my roof backyard wrestling style.

    Seriously.

    No, really. I'm serious.

Elite XC tonight was embarassing, and I'm not looking forward to explaining to my co-workers on Monday why my favorite sport failed so badly on Saturday night.

I was screaming the same thing the entire time. Watching that fight was ridiculous... it was sloppy and a waste of time.

How can Thompson have such a low skill level and rate of success? I mean, he's the size of a bull elephant and has been in the game for a while, how come he doesn't put on better fights?

Big + fundamentally unathletic = ideal cannon fodder. He made a career in Japan playing to audiences who grew up on Godzilla movies and love to see big guys either crush and destroy or get wasted.

I woud have liked to see how the fighters stood up at one point; instead the techical director called for an envrionment shot of the crowd and the cage in the distance.
