    Punch/kick bags

I would like to get a punch and/or kick bag, but since I live in a rented house, I can't drill into a wall or ceiling to mount the large brackets presumably needed.

Has anyone come across a style of bag that doesn't need large metal brackets to support it?

You could get one of those slam man things .. or the cheaper knock-off model .. or a wavemaster.

There are also gigantic metal frames that you can buy to hang your bag on at home, like this:

The first URL seems to have the better ideas, since the metal fram things wouldn't leave much room for the rest of the stuff I need to keep in my house. ;) (Cheaper, too)

Thanks. Now I need to start saving...

The wavemaster is crap if you have any kind of power. Here's a funny story about why:

I was going on vacation about 2 weeks before a fight so I thought I'd go to some "kickboxing" classes at a local Dojo while I was on vacation. Well it turned out to be a no sparring Cardio kickboxing class and they used wavemasters. It started out ok but then we got to the heavy bag part. We had to drag full wavemasters out on the floor which frankly was the hardest part of the workout! Then we started hand work on the bag it felt kinda soft but ok. Then we went to round kicks! In three kicks I had penetrated all the padding and was hitting the solid plastic tube in the middle! OUCH!

    In summary Wavemaster = T3h Suxx0R!

There is the BIG ass "wavemaster" , it looks like a wavemaster but is black and twice the padding.
Its not as good as bag, but better than the wavemaster.
    Get the spar pro dummy.

hmm, just had a thought, kinda defeats the purpose
what if one wore shin pads for the free standing bad?

kinda stupid, i'd rather get a good bag
not all bags are for kicking and i guess people expect people to be wearing gloves
