    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Pro MMA rules question...

So I was watching a rebroadcast of a WEC card yesterday on Versus and I noticed something that stuck out to me... they were doing the camera switches between the corners inbetween rounds and one of the fighters was being given a drink, but not of water; they were giving him Vitamin Water.

It really shouldn't be that big of a deal, but I know in pro boxing how stringent they are about the plain water rule (especially after the Aaron Pryor fight fiasco)... is that common practice for MMA fights? I never really paid much attention but I know that I would much prefer some Gatorade/Vitamin Water inbetween rounds over water if it were up to me as well.

as a general rule, mma fighters are more bad ass then boxers.

and thus, require more from their beverages...

I don't recall any explicit rules concerning fluids between rounds for UFC.

I think this is generally dependent upon the athletic commission under which the fight organization is being sanctioned.

A sponsor getting airtime with a label on a bottle does not always correlate to the actual contents of a bottle.
Calm down, it's only ones and zeros.

Up until some time last year the Nevada state athletic commission only allowed regular water. Now the also allow other clear liquids such as gatorade's propel fitness water.

One of my favorite examples of this was Ken Florian faking drinking a Xyience energy drink during his post fight interview with Rogan.
