Knowing Who You Are Fighting Before a Match

So I'm surfing around the net trying to find out who Raymond Daniels will be fighting for his MMA debut at Strikeforce this month. After talking with some folks on another forum, Jack Felton (whose son is on the LA Stars with Daniels) said:

"I asked Ray and he said he didn't know and it didn't matter."

Now I'm no pro fighter, but it seems to me that one ought to know who they are fighting. Especially when the match in less than 2 weeks away. It stands to reason that if you know who you are fighting, you can look up his record, trainer, videos, etc. and create a game plan. But as I said, I'm no pro fighter, so maybe this is commonplace in MMA.

Is it common in MMA to not know who you are fighting, even when there is less than 2-weeks to the match? Is this a symptom of the organization or the fact that he's on the undercard?

Who cares? All that matters is that the crowd greets you with lust and fury.

You should cry out for blood, not for betting odds.

So you're just a fan of the "sport" then? So if you are intersted in baseball (for example), you dont care who plays, you just want to watch the game?

    Do you fight professionally?

But no, seriously....well...not anymore seriously then my other two posts, but on a different nature. Sometimes a fighter will be booked on a card and an opponent will pull out and the promoter hopes to replace them on short notice. Or a promoter will want a paticular fighter on their card very badly despite not having a match for them and once again hopes to find someone to fill the slot on short notice.

I'm not fan. I don't even think MMA is fun to watch unless it's from a ringside table that's so close to the action that the fighters blood is splattering n you. (true story)

As a competiitor I fight to make my gloves look like they were used as murder weapons when I leave the rings

Look at it this way, Tank Abbot never knew who he was going to fight either in the bar or in the ring, he just stepped in and fought everyone the same, and Abbot is still headlining PPV events!

Are people who aren't very experienced even able to change their game plan appreciably?
