Sorry this took me so long, some local storms knocked out my internet and A/C, some holiday weekend.

Caffeine is an ingredient in this product, but it is only a piece of the puzzle. The simple fact is that caffeine has an impact upon endurance / perceived exertion and reaction times, the critical aims of this product, and benefits the fighters I was working with were looking for. That being said, the dose to obtain such benefits in clinical studies is typically at or around 190mg, far less than many of the top sports products contain.
More importantly, the b-vitamins, apdatogenic herbs (Rhodiola Rosea) and amino acids (L-tyrosine and L-taurine) help support the adrenal glands and thus the body's abilty to deal with stress, hence the enhanced recovery and rest that Teh El Macho refers to. This is often the case when we feel "overtired" or suffer from restless sleep, the body is too run down to rest/ recover effectively.
As to what else makes the formula special, I have three answers (shortest first):
1) Please visit www.tacticalnutrition.net and we have a breakdown of each ingredient and it's benefit relative to the formula. I will also be updating the blog weekly with any new research that comes out (for example, two studies are underway on CoQ10 and endurance, showing much promise).
2) This is the first product designed specifically for fighters, it isn't some existing company "targeting" people who train how we do, but it was designed specifically because the trainers at ATT asked me for something that wasn't out there. I train at ATT daily, and if it didn't work, I certainly wouldn't be able to show my face!
3) I'd like to explain how we came by this formula and highlight a few other ingredients that I find significant. This could get long, so you've been warned. We developed this product with a specific end in mind. Helping fighters fight harder and fight longer. This meant not only improving endurance, but also ensuring that their faculties and skills were there when they needed them. We didn't start with ingredients in mind, or a price point, etc...just a specific result.
I then worked with a scientist that I've worked with for years to review literature on endurance, reaction time (explosiveness) and stress. In many cases, my scientist was able to review studies in progress and speak with the researchers, but overall our focus was upon published research and the dosages used in the research (it is legal to refer to a study even if a company does not use the same dosage as the study, believe it or not). This process took us almost a year, and we learned much from it (a focus on stress / adrenal support, for example) until we were able to filter our possible ingredients into a formula that was practical and effective. As far as some key ingredients that I believe are critical:
Rhodiola Rosea - ( http://www.tacticalnutrition.net/index16.htm ). This adptogenic herb is popular for many benefits, but the one that really caught our eye was that it was commonly used to help wtih focus / cognitive function at high altitude (an oxygen deprived environment, like fatigue). It is also quite popular for stress, and "courage under fire" is another component we feel critical to effective training and performance.
Gingko Biloba - ( http://www.tacticalnutrition.net/index14.htm ). Very popular for helping getting oxygen to the brain and circulation, oxygen is critical to endurance and optimal function. Our product contains the tested dose and potency in a three capsule dose.
Magnesium - ( http://www.tacticalnutrition.net/index27.htm ). Easily missed, and most Americans are deficient, but magnesium plays a critical role in heart performance and nerve function...again, critical components to performance.
I could go on, but this post is already awfully long, so I'll leave you with this. You won't find any magical new ingredients in this formula, or any outrageous claims...but quite simply the tactical application of established science. I think we have a great product, and will gladly answer any other questions you guys have.
Thank you for your interest.FIGHT HARDER! FIGHT LONGER!

Thanks for taking the time to write this. It is nice to see someone promoting a fitness supplement product in this way (as opposed to some of the more common marketing techniques).

I havent tried coca leaf tea as a supplement only because it looks just like cocaine on drug tests (even though I dont think anyone considers the natural unaltered coca leaf a dangerous drug) ... maybe Rhodiola Rosea is an alternative with similar benefits.
anyhow, thanks again for the info ... I think I will give it a try.Last edited by muddy; 5/26/2008 10:29am at .
