Bay Area Chen (or other CMA with a minimum of nonsense)?
There's a strong possibility I may find myself living in the California Bay Area by the end of the summer. This is great in many ways, upsetting in a few. One of the ways in which this is problematic is that it would be difficult to find the sort of Chen I like to do out there, and with a teacher with whom I have some rapport. (i.e., Right now I'm training with a guy who is sharp, martially oriented, and without airs -- no "sifu", no bowing, no uniforms of any sort or silks or belts or sashes or other horseshit).
So, I'm open to general CMA suggestions, especially anything in the East Bay. Anyone out there know anybody good?

"Seriously, who gives a **** what you or Errant think? You're Asian males, everyone just ignores you, unless you're in a krotty movie." - new2bjj

Go to EBM. It's got northern shaolin, internal arts and sanda, all taught by a guy that can fight. He teaches out of a church in Oakland."Coffee is for Closers" GlenGarry Glenross

Where abouts in the East Bay? There's a bunch of schools around here, it's just a matter of wading through them to find what you like.

Lots of good stuff. What new2bjj said, there is White Dragon in SF, and there is also an Eight Immortals Drunken Fist guy in Oakland. I havent trained with them, but heard good things. Oakland Doce Pares for Escrima, the Guro knows Tai Chi as well. There are some bad ass Wing Chun guys in SF as well. I'm serious. Tough guy fighters. Oh, and the guy from Kung Fu Hustle, the gay tailor with the iron rings (Hung Gar) in Oakland now.
Of course, there is also Muay Thai, boxing, and BJJ, but why waste youre time...
