Boxing is a bad choice for wrestling rules, BJJ is a bad choice for boxing rules, MT is a bad choice for sub grappling rules, posting threads like this is a bad choice in the MMA forum.

This has been done to death already.

It's a good base to learn hand to hand striking.

And to anyone who thinks boxing doesn't work in street fights:

Little of the subject, since this thread is lame, but Jack Dempsey used to do some MMA matches against wrestlers. He said wrestlers can't punch and cannot take a good punch. That's according to boxing historian Bert Sugar....Dempsy was into MMA and was a self-defense trainer in the service.

Lies. According to nuthuggers Bruce Lee created MMA.

No way could JD have competed in MMA.

You forgot to mention, he also wrote possibly the earliest modern MMA book that was titled "How To Fight tough", which dealt with close-quarters combat incorporating boxing, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
