    UFC Eyeing Philippines, Germany, Australia

    UFC Eyeing Philippines, Germany, Australia

In addition to its status as one of the fastest-growing sports organizations in the United States, UFC is increasingly looking to expand into foreign markets, with a very successful show in Canada last month and one scheduled in England next month.

But UFC isn't stopping there. On a conference call Thursday to promote UFC 84, UFC President Dana White said he expects his organization to host shows in the Philippines, Germany and Australia soon, and that he's confident that mixed martial arts will be embraced in all three countries.

As White sees it, MMA is an easy enough sport to understand that UFC won't have to expend nearly as much capital on educating foreign fans about the sport as, say, the NFL has spent trying to attract European fans. That makes sense, and I have no doubt that UFC shows in all three countries could attract big audiences.

Uh no. It isn't big in Germany, just barely growing in Aussieland. Don't know about Philippines

i doubt they would be down in the philipines...no sticks = no fans.

That is not conducive to passionate cunnilingus, my friend, let me assure you.

They tried that already and I dont think the riot that surrounded it made it worth it. Them brazilians are very hot blooded, at sporting events like football everything there goes crazy. I dont think the UFC wants to be dealing with that chaos.

Stickfighting doesn't actually draw that many fans in the PI......upper-class people tend to not even KNOW that the pinoys have their own native martial arts.

Boxing however, is hella popular there.

UFC here would be awesome. I think they'd pick up loads of new fans as well as the already devoted existing MMA fans. A card with guys like Sotiropoulos and Hector Lombard would draw. Hell they may even give Elvis a winnable fight for once.
