Front/side kick to the kneecap...effective?

Yeah those are some good Muay Thai techniques right there. These are not used much in MMA, mainly because not many can pull it off right and it may not be worth going for in a 3 round fight. But in 5 round Muay Thai fights they are very useful to break your opponents leg down and disrupt his gameplan. Many people seem to think that MT fighters do nothing but roundhouse kicks, but they couldnt be more wrong.

I typically wear square-toed boots with a solid heel. I will smash a kneecap with them if I need to. In the str33t, boots>kneecaps.

Bent knee or not...that is going to do some damage.

Not really sure how well it will work with bare feet, though.

Yohan thanks for the videos, I really hadn't payed much attention to anderson silva but now I see he's a really good striker, I'm definitely watching more of his fights and hopefully learning a lot!

LOL that was a good one. At one time , a previous job I had we had to wear steel toe shoes. Now getting hit with with these shoes even lightly will hurt someone. Not many of us go around in public barefoot so any kicking done in these shoes/ boots to the knee area will cause some or great damage depending on the strike...
