But seriously, how much does a wrestling program even cost? It's not like it takes a hell of a lot of equipment and a big expensive stadium. What do you even have to pay for? The coach's salary I guess.
travel is generally the largest expense.

This really sucks. Doesn't ASU usually have a pretty solid team too?
    Dan Severn?

In college, I dated a girl who's father was a high school wrestling coach and ASU was the "big get" for the kids on the squad.

Not to diminish your statement. However with Oregon and ASU dropping wrestling, that leaves Stanford and Oregon State.

something to remember. just because a team is in a conference in one sport, doesn't mean they are in another. For example, Notre Dame is an independent in Football, but they're in the Big East in basketball.

The problem isn't with Title IX. There's three ways that satisfy requirements, and the third way (Full and effective accommodation of the interest and ability of underrepresented sex) would enable these schools to keep wrestling on the agenda. Unfortunately, schools are lazy asses and don't want to do the slightly more difficult way of doing things and just cut wrestling at storied programs like ASU and add a women's rowing team (to a school in the middle of the desert).

Title IX isn't the problem here, the schools are.

    **** Title IX.

**** women's sports. They're boring. No one cares about them.
