Temple Kung Fu
Any student of this kung fu franchise in the Northwest USA and Canada who is smart enough and not brainwashed enough to do some basic research would find that the founder, Olaf Simon, did in fact NOT:
-Learn from a Chinese monk who lived in Germany during pre World War II
-Learn any Asian martial arts (let alone Shaolin kung fu) prior to 1960
-Earn a black belt from Ed Parker
-Master a style called Moo Kung Fu, which didn't exist in China or anywhere else prior to his introduction of it in the late 1960s
Don't believe me? Then ask yourself these questions:
-Why doesn't he or any of your other sifus have written proof of Simon's accomplishments from sources other than Simon?
-In Chinese systems, the lineage is almost always very clear: Why can't Simon or his underlings provide a clear lineage?
-Why can't Temple Kung Fu students compete in open tournaments?
-Why aren't potential students allowed to watch an entire class "uncensored?"
Remember, don't take anything for granted and remember to ask why.
Got a link for the school?
No surprise, I couldn't find the "official" Olaf Simon Temple Kung Fu website (why would there be one, so that people can more readily pick apart his reputation?). However, apparently someone else here has already tore apart Temple Kung Fu's "legitimacy" for me:
They are still alive: http://www.kungfutemple.com/

Wow, there's some heavy SEO tweaking on that site. But yeah: The word is Olaf Simon taught himself basic karate from Mas Oyama's book, was briefly associated with Parker Kenpo and eventually invented his own style which he called Moh Kempo, then Kung Fu, while he got more and more eccentric and devoted to dubious business practices. He admitted his kung fu lineage ewas fake in court.
There are schools that split off from various incarnations of Simon's style throughout Canada, many of which want nothing to do with him. A few are apparently not terrible, have come clean about their roots and no longer have anything to to with TKF.
