I'll believe that when I see it in a tourney. I mean, him schooling people when they roll is great and all, but part of that has to be them not being dicks and pushing him as hard as they can. I mean, I know my instructors are better than I am, but if I want, I can just be a dick and use power moves.

Rickson was in talks to fight Ken Shamrock a year or two ago, but nothing happened.

Paulo Filho says the same, supposedly in the context of mma sparring. That's not good enough testimony for me though. There are guys that are gym stars that suck in competition (that's the route I'm certainly headed down) and the reality is that mma today is a far cry from where it was even 5 years ago, let alone when Rickson last fought. There simply is no way (or reason) to assess where Rickson stands today. He, like many Gracies, talks the game but hasn't walked it in over a decade. Royler (well, not since he got Genki'ed) and Renzo, and to a lesser and more pathetic degree Royce, still fight and are thus still worth talking about.

Rickson is a High School star quarterback who sits on the couch talking about how great he would have been in the NFL who gives his wife a black eye when she doesn't get him a beer fast enough.
