Yeah, I'll see what I can do. This is actually an interesting discussion.

What more can we add to this now though? Whiteshark is right, it's a lot harder to demonstrate total superiority in a striking art without beating your opponent halfway to death. Especially if your opponent is already thoroughly armored with a delusional believe in the deadliness of the techniques.
Even the dirt ninja that Hedge humiliated came back with a "Well, if it had been real I'd have killed you" kind of thing, and that was after being demonstrably humiliated in a grappling match. Imagine standup sparring with the same guy and just working the footwork and some light contact. He would go away absolutely certain than in a real fight he would go through you like a chainsaw.
Maybe we can talk about ways to demonstrate that superiority in stand up sparring?
I think Whiteshark did a great job in our spar at the Mega with takedowns allowed. The trips and the occasional kick whiffing just past my face didn't hurt me, but they definitely let me know I was out of my league.
(Incidentally, I wants a rematch, MMA rules, so I can get equally mauled with t3h grappling next time) -

I tend to believe this is a fundamental difference between striking and grappling but does anyone have experience getting the point across while exclusively striking without really dropping bombs on someone?
Yeah i didn't bring it up before but I asked for takedowns/sweeps on purpose because i tend to think it gives me an out. -

In my experience, they're a lot more similar than you think WS. There are people who just won't tap in grappling unless you hurt them and won't tap to chokes at all. I've had to injure people to give them a reality check in grappling plenty of times.
I find that if you just parry or block every single shot they throw, you can actually not throw any back and they still get the point. If you aren't good enough to do this, of course, then it doesn't work.I tend to believe this is a fundamental difference between striking and grappling but does anyone have experience getting the point across while exclusively striking without really dropping bombs on someone? -
