Not to be one upped by the Joneses, i.e., Monster, our friends at Rockstar have pooped out their own not so unique ENERGY-COFFEE concoction.
Again, we have espresso coffee mixed with each companies 2500mg proprietary energy blend.
Its, its, its, ITS...ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME IN ALL RESPECTS AS THE CRAP PUT OUT BY MONSTER!!!! with a few small differences.
Unlike Monster, who deemed it necessary to market to every ethnicity and nationality with their smorgasbord of "flavors", Rockstar has stuck with the tried and true Starbuck's generation trifecta of Mocha, Light Vanilla, and Latte.
Rockstar was able to provide a more noticeable difference in taste between their three selection than Monster was able to do with there Energy-Coffee Menu items.
Taste Rating Scale is 1 (absolute shite) through 10 (tastes like happy)
Taste: 7 – Once again, If you are a fan of iced coffee then this stuff is pretty good. Unlike Monster's selection, Rockstar has been able to put a more distinct coffee/espresso taste in their models. The Mocha and the Latte, while similar in taste provides a slight difference with the Mocha having a slight....well......Mocha taste. The Light Vanilla is noticeabley light on the coffee taste and after-taste side but it is still a good tasting product.
After Taste: 7 – Like iced coffee? If you like then good; if you don't then don't buy it stupid.
Effects Rating Scale is 1 (water) through 10 (check in to rehab NOW!)
Energy Boost: 7 – Good boost. As with the Monster, the actual total caffeine content is a bit of a mystery; assuming the caffeine resulting from the brewed espresso IS NOT included in the proprietary energy blend found in most Rockstar beverages. However, unlike Monster, the proprietary caffeine content is listed as being 240kmg per can. This amount is more than the standard run of the mill Rockstar, but is the same as the proprietary caffeine amount found in Rockstar-Zero or Rockstar-Juiced. So, whether or not the caffeine attributed to the espresso blend is included in the 240mg total is a bit of a mystery. So, I will put the potential caffeine content for these drinks as ranging between 240mg-300+mg.
Side Effects/Crash: 5 – There is a crash, but not nearly as crippling as the crash I got from the Monster Energy-Coffee drinks.
