I would suspect that if you watched two advanced students from either school you wouldn't be able to tell who their instructor was. By the time someone is purple belt, let alone brown or black they will have their own style of jiu-jitsu. Different people have different games, even if they're brothers - so Rigan Machado's game which is very much a "pressure" and crushing game is different to Jean-Jacques Machado's game which is more leverage based and based on feints and set-ups.

I recently saw a video on youtube of Rigan Machado vs Rickson gracie, it looked pretty cool but I got tired of watching it due to the poor quality of the whole thing. there must be a better version of the vid out there
does anyone know where i can find anything on JJ machado vs a Gracie?? -
