A Thought -- Skin Elasticity and Muscle Growth

Question I pondered on the bus this evening coming home from my martial arts class...

Since we lose elasticity in our skin as we age... would it NOT make more sense to remain fairly skinny until you are 25 or so and only THEN bulk up to keep your body looking younger longer?

yes, but things also break under stress more easily when you are older, so it migt not be a good idea to keep putting on wheight that doesnt come naturally

That would exacberate stretch marks...I'd think.

Are you thinking along the lines of filling out and staying that way so as to avoid wrinkles and loose skin upon losing the weight?

Exactly. As long as you don't let yourself go and gain some unwanted fat (thus stretching skin that won't go back) it could be balanced to just fill you out I'm thinking.

Only problem with this theory is the face.... guess there's still Botox or whatever if you get desperate.

Has anyone ever seen professional bodybuilders when they get old?? Most people who bulk up and stop working out daily look out of shape.

Arnold is good at hiding it. There's sme rescent pics of him with no shirt on and he looks bad.

IF you work out and keep a healthy diet you'll look fine. On sunday morning a group of 65+ guys work out every week and they look better then most ppl in thier 20's. It all depends on what kind of lifestyle you live.

Amen to that Berserk. Some old people never let the fire go out. I hope I still have some fire in me when I hit my 60's and thats in a VERY long time.
