interesting/fun facts about the Iceman

recently got Chuck's autobiography.

absolutely loved it, and i encourage MMA fans to check it out.

i'll share some bits and pieces, but won't do a full summary like that guy did for hughes's book.

wasn't a big chuck fan before, now i'll be rooting for him.

-how he got his mohawk : he went to a Slayer concert with his buddies and his friends decided to shave their heads off. Chuck was reluctant, so he got a mohawk.

-he got his tats on his head because he wanted to show it to other ppl without having to take his shirt off. He also wanted it to be in a place where he could easily hide it, since he was in accounting and he may have needed job interviews later on.

-at 25 yrs old, he began dating a 17 yrs old and even went to her prom. (chuck admits that its weird and refers to it as robbing the craddle)

-the only 2 fighters he seems to dislike and disrepect are Tito and Vernon White. Tito because he felt that Tito ducked him, and White because he keeps complaining about eye gouging.

-during his first fight with Rampage in Pride, you can hear Dana wondering why he isn't using leg kicks and sticking to his gameplan. Chuck explains that the plan was to leg kick because they expected takedowns from rampage. Since chuck saw rampage was going to trade punches with him, chuck abandonned the original plan.

-his mom was a single parent who managed to raise 4 kids on her own. chuck refers to his father as the sperm donor.

-his karate style is Koei-Kan (personally never heard about it before)

-He spells BJJ as jujitsu. (some people on this board makes a fuss about jiu-jitsu vs jujitsu). i often hear that he has a purple belt, but his rank is not specified in his book.

-early during his career, he fought and beat Pele in Brazil.

-Dana White used to be Chuck's manager until Dana and the Fertittas bought the UFC.

and yeah, i highly recommand his book.

For some reason, I never bought into the "iceman" hype.

I also had the notion that 85% of those who did were bitches.

I have, for some reason bought into the GSP hype though.

I never liked Chuck Lidell, I don't know why, I read his book, and he seems ok.

Same here. He did have a rough childhood (financially ) and he seems very proud and thankful in regards to his mom / grand parents.

And he got her pregnant when she turned 18. I **** you not. Chuck ends up talking about his sex life quite a bit in his book. And it's not pleasant most of the time; frankly, I don't want to think about Liddell's fat gut slopping over his dick when he takes his pants off.

They had a mutual friend and would carpool together to get to the California midstate fair in the Summer (Where Chuck worked security). He became attracted to her, and poured her heart out to her one night. Then they started dating. Along the line, he took her to the prom and boned her at one point.
