his performance was so bad, but there were so many other good performances that night that are getting over looked due to all this negative press. I say forget the guy.

**** him.if youre in a tournament like that, youre there to fight for money and entertainment. youre not there to run away. its equivalent to a soccer player repeatedly picking up the ball or a basketball player kicking it. im glad hes gone and he doesnt deserve another chance.

although.....maybe he was trying the tactic of the "gladiator" here:..

Depends on how you look at it:

Starnes was operating on the kind of contract often given to alumni of "The Ultimate Fighter" reality TV show. He says the deal guaranteed him three fights a year with the UFC holding an option at the end of each year whether it wanted to continue.

if the contract is so shitty, why sign it in the first place?

although, i do find it amusing that Starnes acts surprised and offended. dude, you read the contract BEFORE you signed it right?

exactly. regardless of his reasons, what he did, essentially, was throw the fight. he defrauded everyone involved in the event. do that in any sport & you'll usually get, and deserve, a lifetime ban.

What's wrong with that? You have to look at the magnitude of the **** up.

He can redeem himself by finding where his heart and mind really are and start kicking some serious ass in smaller MMA events. Bizness is bizness and the UFC would get him back if he transform himself into a bad-ass ************ with superb work ethics.

It was more than that. The UFC cutting him lose was a reaction, damage control to the widespread outrage expressed by UFC fans (especially the customers who either purchased a ticket or PPV), in addition to any personal outrage felt by Dana and anyone else who is doing a living directly or indirectly in MMA.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

I don't think his mind was ever in it.

I know he trains at ATT with Anthony, and I would like to respect a team-mate of A, but I've talked to guys from Van who trained with Starnes. Even before TUF, his mind just wasn't in it. He wasn't cut from the same stuff as a lot of other fighters, especially guys from Canada.

Has Anthony comented on this yet or is he still staring at the T.V with his mouth hanging open in utter disbelief?
