NY Combat Sambo Style: combat sambo--
Long way is right...LOL.
I realized the year is wrong in that vid as well. That freestyle fighting event was 1996, not 1997. I wil I had some old pics of me as a kid doing shotokan...could not find any. I wish I could have found some vids of the old TKD and kung fu days...LOL. But, back then I had no means or inclination to record anything. I actually have footage somewhere of me in the very first grappler's quest...bad quality, but it is in storage somewhere. -

Did he tap to that kneebar?
Also, would you mind starting a thread in DHS tlaking about different postures while working takedowns?
Judo guys seem to advocate a much more upright stance, whereas wrestling seems to favor a more bent stance. Given this vid and your bent stance and judo's influence on sambo it seems like you'd have some useful insight. -

I ended up transitioning that kneebar to a knee crush, but time ran out before I could finish. We ended up going 10 minutes with no sub he beat me with points from a sweet takedown he scored on me. Otherwise, it was back and forth for 10 minutes.
Here is a pick of the kneecrush attempt...
Sure, I will comment on stand up position. I tend to switch from hunched to upright depending on what the other guy does. But I prefer upright. -

Thanks. But, just to clarify it was a world tournament here in the states. It was not the "worlds". But, still there were about 16 countries competing that year. I had 4 fights that weeked. 3 were US nationals, and one was a Brizillian. I went 2-2. It was a good tiring weekend.
