they are interesting. they use rattan for the core and have a velcro
latch allowing you to replace the core if it gets broken.

I'm thinking of ordering them as well and doing a detailed review with pics of lameco vs actionflex vs SMAK vs Got Stick? vs Century cheapos.

also does the ninjas thing mean a bujinkan / taijutsu school will be competing?

not sure how comeptitive I'll be against everyone else
but as long as I beat a ninjer. I'll be quite happy.
Yes, Angel(who showed up to a throwdown but had a jacked up knee) has competed multiple times and does alright. I think his techniques and strategies are kind of goofy, but he's extremely explosive and aggresive, which will get you a long way.

I prefer Lameco for actually "going at it" with lacrosse gloves and hockey mask, but prefer smak stiks for contact drills and light sparring/not making people quit sparring during their first six months. Actionflex ones tend to rip on that goddamn tip under frequent high contact and cut the **** out of my legs because motherfuckers are too cheap to buy new ones.

Yeah, the only guy competing with more grappling experience than hedge is coming in with a jacked-up knee. Another guy is from larry's shooto class, and is pretty explosive.

Remember, it's continous points by exchange, not a ten-point must. Taking a hit to shoot will get you at best, a clash. If you want to cleany take the guy down and dominate you need to close under a roof/umbrella/force-field on the planet's surface and sweep or hip toss them.

I suppose shooting in immediatley AFTER you get hit would be a decent way to make sure they only get a clash off of it.

oh yeah.. the point-based judging... clash, clean exchanges.
well at least its way better than wekaf. seems to encourage/reward tactics closer to DB style.

and I hope its youtubed as well. I want videos of myself getting beat like a drum.

Larry tapes everything, but takes forever to do anything with his footage(leslie is the same way- they both have hundreds of hours of sparring footage they never did anything with)

eh i'll bring my old minidv videocam and have one of my friends tape it in that case. dammit. not sure how i'm gonna go about going from minidv to computer. need to get one of those new fangled camcorders that output straight to flash memory or mini-dvd.

and then maybe the ninjers will actually have video proof of a ninjutsu practitioner who can actually fight.

and they'd be like OMG I told YOU

    ninjas pwn Kali.

I bet i'd be a overnight sensation on MAP to post that video there.
