Looked that way from the broadcast too, except that the earlier ones were actually pretty technical escapes. I think he just got overconfident given how many times he'd got out previously.

Yeah, I didn't word that quite clearly. I was not commenting on Lennox's previous escapes but only on the Bussade's leglock-palooza.

Tom, the thing is...in that position, with weight on the leg, it's pretty hard for a tap to mean anything, but if he'd escaped a bunch of times and Bussade was just trying harder to make sure he got it, that's not so bad.

The clip doesn't show the sequence before. Lennox essentially stood up into that. After successfully defending one somewhat loose leg lock attempt after another practically the entire fight, my guess is Lennox took a gamble he could successfully stand and power out of this attempt, and paid the price.

If you're defense is just powering out of **** all of the time, this is what will happen to you eventually.

I've had fucktards come in and just fucking refuse to tap to arm bars, and just try to yank out repeatedly. (I generally don't do many leg attacks against people I'm unfamiliar with.) I'm just not enough of a dick to keep cranking on them even when I've got them locked in. I usually just let them yank it out, then choke them instead. But in the back of my head I know that I could have broken their ****, and if they continue to use the ass-tastic yank defense, eventually they'll try it against someone not as nice as me, and will end up dealing with a pretty severe injury.

I too am scared shitless of leg injuries (my dad has bad knees), but this has actually compelled me to go for leglocks more, even though going for one typcially brings you closer to being put in one. This has happened for for two reasons:
a) I know that I'm not a dick, and I won't injure anyone with a kneebar.
b) I feel that if I develope a good leglock game, I'm less likely to get caught in one by someone with poor control or spaz out and get injured. Thus, I feel that developing my leglock game will make me less likely to be injured by one in the long run.
