I practice escrima mainly stick and knife fighting. My philosophy is that you need to learn how to use weopons in order to learn how to defend against them. Its just like someone saying they know how to defeat a BJJ stylist but never actually went up against one. I say learn weopons so you can learn all the techniques that an attacker may use to get that weopon to strike you. Theres alot of tricks . Then figure defeses for them.

Nunchuku worst weapon of all time? The ignorance! Do you have any idea how destructive a pair of nunchuku can be in the hands of a competant stylist? Shinai? What does that mean? Do you take Kendo? Forms are done with a bokken. The shinai itself isn't an effective weapon.

Choke...you want to fight me with a pair of nunchucka bring it. I will send you home completely embarrassed. Tell you what. I won't even use a weapon to show you how useless they are. I don't do the kendo thing. I've done the full contact fighting thing like dog brothers.

If someone were to hit you in the head with a pair of nunchaku you would fall on the ground unconscious or dead. Two sticks connected with a chord moving at speed of over 100 mph is going to cause serious trauma. The nunchaku were orignally used to assault armoured Samurai carrying metal weapons. I'm not sure what magical chance you think you have.

    Choke,

I have to disagree with your comment on the shinai not being an effective weapon. Have you ever been hit by one? Even with our armor on, a powerful strike from a shinai will be painful and leave some marks.

My instructors use a shinai for correcting stances or to pratice blocks and evasion. It hurts a lot no doubt! But it doesn't have the stopping power like a tonfa or nunchaku have. The shinai was introduced into Kendo to practice full contact randori without fear of serious injury.

Yeah, that's why the shinai is whippy. To cause pain without as serious an injury.
