Ironic treatment, considering the widespread acceptance of MMA. One can even say "I study MMA" and no one says "Ha! you mean the faked art?".

The Aiki-buken is not a Ryu, and it does not claim thousands of years of lineage under the name 'aikibujutsu'. Toshishiro Obata merely used the term for the title of his research organization to convey the types of techniques they study.

The point: There is no art or ryu called Aikibujutsu. There is however a resarch orgainization that uses the term, and they study techniques from Yoshinkan Aikido, Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu, Torimonojutsu, as well as weapons techniques that build on a similar body mechanics foundation.

As for writing the paper, you might want to ask your instructor to be clearer. Or just write exactly what you find out!

Shinkendo is Obata sensei's main project. It's been developing quite well, with more expansion in Europe than anywhere else. Obata sensei has also been constantly developing the curriculum, with the notable recent addition of nitoken (two sword) techniques, which are unholy fun. No nitoken test cutting yet, but that's on the way, as soon as Obata feels like we can do it without accidentally turning the dojo into the restaurant scene from Kill Bill.

Your best bet is probably obscurity disguised as profundity. Example:

Once there was a sword floating down the river. The rain fell upon it, but the sword remained perfect and free of rust. The birds of the sky dropped dirt on it, but the sword floated in clean perfection. Then the sun came out. In anger, the sword stabbed the sun in the heart! And now the sun never dares to shine when the sword floats in the river.

This is the essence of Aikibujutsu.
