It didn't help, yet it wasn't its death nell either.
And no, you don't need to mutilate your hands to get hand conditioning.

I’ve been to open competitions where the kung fu people were a joke trying to poke people they were fighting constantly, with no effect whatsoever, it was hilarious if it was not so sad. Even the TKD people would wipe the floor with them.
You have to have strong hands, but I think a single finger strike will work to the eyes only.
I can see two finger strikes working to the eyes, groin and throat only.
I am not a big fan of finger strikes, I would not try to poke people constantly.

Okay. Good. Some people actually think that.
As to the finger strikes thing. Whether or not you feel pain in your finger isn't going to prevent it from breaking.
Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

I did iron palm (with canvas bags) but never to the extreme extent that was done in the past where people lost their finger nails etc. I would not use finger strikes.
However one can understand what the styles of the past were trying to achieve with regards to pressure point striking combined with amazingly conditioned fingers that could cause real damage. Naturally I am talking about Dim Mak but in a way I don’t want to use that term since it has been so misused and exploited.

I did not suffer any bad effects from iron palm training. I know that this kind of traing was taught wrong on purpose to individuals in the past, with the intent on having them mutilate their hands or die.
I blocked a kick with a finger once. The block was good, but my finger was fucked up!

Iron Palm, Iron Vest, Muscle Restructure, poison hand...who knows? Not this guy (points at mirror)I've seen them done, I've tested their mettle (iron vest anyways) strange stuff i don't fully understand.
