Please educate me in ji jitsu

Question. What's the difference between ji jitsu and brazilian ji jitsu?

Also, is this ji jitsu or bjj?

Do NOT post the same thread in different forums.

Somebody hit the "report bad post" button. I can't because I'm posting from my phone and that feature isn't available.

kramer733, this forum is for specific or advanced grappling questions. General questions like yours belong in the Guantanamo Bay forum.

BJJ might make you a better ground fighter, but Judo will make you a better dancer.

from what i can remember about jjj is that most schools do not put as much live sparring in as bjj schools and emphisise self defence.

JJJ clubs vary wildly in what they teach, from standing wristlocks and larptastic knife defense at one en of the spectrum, and what looks like Judo without all of the sportive rules at the other. Until you see them in action, there's no telling whether it'll be a larpfest or really dirty Judo with more newaza and sparring.

With BJJ, you pretty much know what you get. Focus on groundfighting with more emphasis on guardwork than other groundfighting systems. Fairly consistent quality amongst belt ranks.
