Thank's, thats a far more elegant way of putting it.

On a serious note (Though I'm guessing you already know this because you really couldn't comically misconstrue my argument that much without understanding it first) all I'm saying is:

Isn't it really rather weird that in six fights against six guys that all knew from the outset they couldn't beat Cung Le standing, only two guys thought to make any attempt at taking Cung Le down?

No, not especially, especially since you're clearly just guessing what the six guys "knew", unless you have a telepathy helmet. Le did fight weak opponents for the most part, sure. but very quick sidekicks and such make him hard to takedown. This isn't the era of the Flaily Gracie Tackle anymore. Lots of takedowns are set up via jabs, low kicks, feints, etc. Le doesn't often get outfeinted (especially by people who stomp around the ring like hungry walruses). He really is just legitimately hard to get close to, at least by fighters of the level he's been fighting.

The "work" theory is just a foolish one, sorry. When was the last time a new sport or promotion was built on an Asian as its top draw (racism is still real), and why would they build up someone who is already thirty-five years old, instead of something they can milk a decade out of? If a MMA promotion was to get into the worked fight biz, it would likely pick someone with more brand potential and longevity.
