    seconded. It's that good.

Did I miss something though? How come the video was never posted in the original time-line of the thread? I just was looking for a torrent of told-you-so's. I had to stop reading each post around page 8 or so. (on 40/page).

I read this entire **** hurricane. I can't believe I read this entire shitstravaganza. Now I have to post about it, because god damn I read the entire shitageddon.

Though I do have to say, that video looked alot like a guardpass drill, not the "go for a submission" thing that Matt and Luis seemed to state that it was. I didn't see any tapping.

Djimbe couldn't even hang through a guard drill, and got swept by someone he outweighed by 250lbs.

Yeah, he sucked-- no question there. Man should have wrestled in highschool or something. A four hundred pound wrestler... well, it's kinda like a 600 lb gorilla.

Seriously though I really wanted a glorious closure for all this reading and arguing. At least I got some insight on human psychology from this.

I read this one too, I haven't learned anything new, I already knew people will bend truth as close as it permits to win the argument.

At least all this was solved in good spirit of martial arts, no guns involved.. right? :confused2

Holy shitfuckers, I cannot believe I read through all of that.

Matt Thornton was a sight more obliging with them than I would have been in a situation like that.

Also I think it is fairly evident just from the way Djimbe types that he can't grapple, though that isn't the issue.

The original problem as I understand it is Matt explicitly saying certain styles will never work even with aliveness - I doubt this is what he is actually saying. Certain styles would need a big rewrite, even with aliveness. Take Yellow Bamboo - if you add aliveness, it ain't gonna be yellow bamboo anymore. Nor would some sort of fancy-dancy crane style hoppy-dance, etc.

So the statement that not all styles can be "saved" seems not to be a powerful claim.

The amount of offense taken by the OP at Matt for this and the readiness with which the OP threw those insults is amazing. I truly believe we have here a case of powerful cognitive dissonance, and I don't think it's Luis or Matt Thornton who are doing the most re-writing of events.

GOD why did I read all that.
"[Fighting for Points] is doubtless very pretty, and invariably draws applause, but preferences should always be given to blows that do some business, to good straight hits that do something toward finishing the fight.
A man who has carefully trained for brilliant tapping play, will find himself considerably out of it in case he is called upon to do any real work."
    -A.J. Newton, Boxing.
