Take the time you were going to do work with weighted gloves and work on your punching form and relaxation instead. 1/4" of muscle on your forearms at the expense of possible wrist problems isn't going to help you as much as more time in on punching itself.

those have a couple of problems:

1) they can cause joint damage

2) to avoid joint damage, your body will naturally slow down the speed of the punch before it hits the bag. this means that you are training yourself to actually hold back right before impact.

if you want to increase punching power with weights, ross enamait suggests shot puts with 5 lb. medicine balls or small dumbells. this way you get to extend your strike all the way through and don't risk joint injuries.

Just for christsake dont do speed bag work with them. Missing with weighted gloves == rotator cuff injury.
