    Back pain

Whenever I do situps (since ive been pretty young in fact), I always quickly develop lower back pain. Ive had multiple people tell me that my form is fine, but since my back hurts, it obviously is not. Do any of you have some idea as to what I may be doing wrong?

Yes, you're doing sit-ups. Stop doing them. There are vastly superior ab exercises out there that do less damage to your back.

Crunches, leg raises, bicycles, janda sit-ups, etc.

Head to trainforstrength.com for some examples.

I have a fucked-up lower back. Situps hurt like a mofo. Listen to Emevas, the man knows what he's talking aobut, done all of those excercises and none of them hurt my back.

In addition to Emevas' suggestion, I'll say don't be cheap and get yourself a cheap ab wheel at walmart, target or sports authority. The cheaper and simpler the better.

It will work both your abdominals and your back.

Another bodyweight exercise that works your abdominals and back is what's called walk outs (walk outs into planks or walk outs into push ups, either one will do). Observe what this kid is doing after each kettlebell lift at the start of the clip:

Him going up and down from standing to the plank will hit your abs like a mofo, and it's a zillion times better than sit ups.

    I love you Macho...
And lo, Kano looked down upon the field and saw the multitudes. Amongst them were the disciples of Uesheba who were greatly vexed at his sayings. And Kano spake: "Do not be concerned with the mote in thy neighbor's eye, when verily thou hast a massive stick in thine ass".

    Show me some luuuv :P

That exercise is awesome. Even by themselves, walkouts are just awesome (and very underrated). I did them last week, but instead of stopping at the clean, I pushed it up and then into an overhead squat. The walkout after the lift is just murder.

I'm gonna try them tomorrow with dumbell snatches :viking:
