    MMAfacts.com: Settling the Media Straight

Today marks the launch date of mmafacts.com. The website is the first of it's kind; a professionally run informational resources about the regulation and safety of the growing sport of mixed martial arts. MMA has grown so large that the media and journalists can no longer ignore it as one of the fastest growing sports in history. In these past couple of years there have been numous articles about how popular "human cockfighting" and "no rules ultimate fighting" has become amoung bloodthirsty young men who love watching these "bloody" and "unsanctioned" matches. Now, there is no longer an excuse for ignorance and inaccuracies in the mainstream media with this new go to resource debunking myths and providing raw statistics. Included on the website are printable fact kits and professional studies aimed at giving MMA the professional sport acknowledgement it deserves.

So far, I'm really diging the website. They present the facts and do a good job at projecting a positive image for the sport. There are only two things at this point that I think are a little too squeaky clean to the point of being misleading: Their claim that "PhD's, Olympians, and Family Men make up the core of the pros." While there are plenty of educated men in MMA, I cannot think of a single recognized pro fighter that actually has a PhD. Olympians have fought in MMA before, but not as many as the statement implies. Also, I also don't see the relevance of mentioning that family men fight in MMA. The other thing that I find misleading is the picture of Keith Jardine from their website:

    The Dean of WTF?!

In that picture he looks more like The Dean of Wean(ies).

Fun Fact: Keith Jardine's actually posted here at least once.

Not So Fun Fact: I hope he never posts here again now that I've posted this.

"Sir, you have a book to be returned! And there's a fine..."
"Whatever dude...I don't have a book at home!"
"Sir, we are very serious in our policy regarding books overdue!"
"And what if I have a book at home, it's not a dork like you that's gonna do anything about it, right? "

Why is it every time I hear about the movie "Never Back Down" I instead get a vision of Rick Astley?

Matt Lindland's on the site. A Zuffa run site bent on getting the UFC into New York has Lindland on it.
