Kata, Forms, Poomse: They Suck
Sensei: Today class, we will learn a truly ancient form that goes back to the beginnings of our martial art.
Class: HAI SENSEI!
Sensei: Good. Now, starting from a horse stance, jump to your left.
And then, take a step to the right. Feel the chi flow through you as you place your hands squarely on your hips.
Next, turn your feet towards each other and bend your knees in tiii-ight. It's just a pelvic thru-ust, that really drives you insa-a-a-a-a-ane...
March just sucks in general. And so does Kata. You think you're training. We think you're dry-land-swimming. Or as one extremely intelligent and attractive forum member stated, Mandancing.
Footnote: Olorin gets no love. :laughing9
ah, i miss my days of man dancing.
Yes, but you danced with fairy fans.
It's like the Senior Prom,
You're not there for the dancing,
but you have to go through the motions to get what you really want out of the evening
If you can't laugh at yourself,
Others will be happy to do it for you
The 2 most abundant elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.
[hat brings back so many hgih school fantasies.
You know, when I started lurking here, I was like, "I got no beef with forms. They're not so bad. I don't know why everybody's got a hate-on for 'em." But all of my forms at the time were very straightforward, punch-kick-turn-block fare.
Now that I've seen some higher-level TSD forms, I understand. **** you, forms. You suck.
Someone please educate me - what the hell is Poomse?
I can think of all kinds of things that might be, but not in this context...
To cut to the chase, TKD Kata.
