    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Interesting full contact kali video

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1_5mTJp27E

The first one above includes one of the same marines as on Fight Quest.
According to the owner of the vid (person marine is fighting) They went
pretty easy on the fight quest guys.

the other marine's vid is above.

    These are
    Ron Kosakowski's videos

Kind of rare to see decent length kali matches online that aren't from WEKAF or Dog Brothers

the marines were easy on him. Both of those guys have actually killed people with blades in combat, with both machetes and knives. If it were live blades, I doubt that coming in for sweeps would be the smart thing to do.

And had they had guns I doubt coming in trying to swing strikes would be the smart thing to do.

In that particular enviroment.........it's a little different. The entire reason for the edged combatives program was the casualty rate they were taking in jungle and urban operations against bladed guerillas at close-quarters. Within a certain radius, it just doesn't make sense to respond with your assault rifle.

    good point.
There was a clip from that BBC/UK Mind body martial arts moves show involving pekiti tirsia.
They did a Knife vs gun response thing.
a guy with a holstered gun vs a guy with a knife rushing him from a good distance (not up close).
I was trying to find a youtube of it.

anyway... it takes too long to whip out the sidearm, undo the safety and cock it.
he was stabbed like 4 times before he could get it ready to fire.

Before the marines took up Pekiti Tirsia, they were experiencing casualties from edged weapon attacks. In jungle ambushes, the fighting can be really close quarter. Since the introduction of Pekiti Tirsia as part of their training, edged weapon casualties have diminished and the other side has learned to fear the ginunting.
