    Do bruised ribs easily aggravate into worse injuries?

    Sup...

    I have a bruised rib. The pains not terrible just annoying. Definitely wouldn't want a body triangle or a vice grip closed guard applied to it but otherwise I feel I'd be ok.

    Anyone train while having one?
    Do they easily get aggravated into worse injuries?

    All opinions appreciated..

    have you had it diagnosed by a doc as a bruised rib? As in bone bruised? How long has it been bruised.


    If it's not a bruised bone and is muscle/connective tissue injury , then they can stick for a while if you don't let them heal 100%.

    - No I haven't been to a doctor.
    - Its hurt since Thursday after rolling with a Judo orange belt for about 30 minutes. He held me in a really strong closed guard and I have been squished from some tight body triangles earlier in the week.

    You'll want to make sure that your ribs are bruised, and it's not that you've torn cartilage or moved anything around that shouldn't be moved around.

    As ever -- with soft tissue -- a GP won't be able to help. You'll need a physio, an osteo or a chiro to diagnose and answer the below question (something you should ask about every injury).

    Was there a physical imbalance/deficiency that contributed to it in the first place?

    Well, I tore an intercostal muscle (the bastards in betwixt the ribs) mid November and it got re-torn a couple of times doing nothing in particular.
    It just felt tender, like a bruise on the rib.


    Yours does sound different - coming from a crushing injury - but I'd be careful, and maybe see an doctor for a proper diagnosis.

    Sorry not following your question here...

    If your asking if my partners were bigger than me the answer is no. They were all about the same size and better than me though. As far as conditioning goes I am in great shape.. a bit lanky thats about it.
