Preventing bloody noses
It gets very dry here in the winter and I suffer from persistent bloody nose. They can start from blowing my nose, any forceful contact with my nose, or just at random. Needless to say, judo matches are a bitch.
I've got a tournament coming up this weekend and would like to avoid forfeiting any matches because my nose is bleeding...any tips on ways to prevent them, or at least temporarily stop them to complete a match?
I sleep with a humidifier running and use saline spray regulary.

Vaseline and Styptic powder are your friends.

When I used to play rugby (badly), I used Vicks vaporub up my nose... it's like vaseline, but smells nicer and helps keep your airways all menthol-y.
It does state specifically not to put it up your nose on the side of the tub, though.

Nose bleeds must suck. Does it hurt?

I have a mate who had this problem (incedentally it was a bitch when he joined the forces because he had to go for like, 100 medicals).
Vaseline or something akin to that on the inside of your nose is good. Keep your water intake up if you can.
And dont get hit in the face...

Something I heard was snorting salt once it started bleeding. Personally, I would recommend this.

No, dont, snorting salt is goddam painful and just makes your eyes water.
I know from personal experience (tequila suicides) and a mate of mine just got a blood nose.
He was a ***** though.
