Pretty much yeah. Nog kept trying terrible double legs, getting up and getting hit some more - Crocop actually had Nog basically out at the end of the first round but he was saved by the bell, second round Nog comes out and lands a miracle double leg, mounts, then armbars CC as he attempts to escape.

Have a look on stage6, i think its up there, or at least a highlight.

I agree with you about the strategy BTW - its epic from a drama POV but it's really dumb for Nog.

Had a look for it on Stage6 didn't see it though but found it on youtube. He'll always be inconsistent if he fights that way, technically gifted on the ground or not. He won't hold that belt long.

Regardless of his performance before it hit the ground, that sub was still a thing of beauty.

Only if the UFC signs Fedor, otherwise who can beat him?

Do they let Dan Henderson go for the Heavyweight belt as well after the 185?

This would be true if there was anybody else, but who is there? There's Kongo, who has worse takedown defense than crocop or Sylvia. Herring who Nog already beat (though did show he could beat him). It is a horrible game plan, but it does work for Nog and since Randy, Fedor, and Barnett are not going to fight him, he isn't in that much danger.

Maybe Werdum? But that fight I'd imagine Nog'd want to keep standing and pepper him with superior hands. I'd still like to see it happen, but then again I'm one of the few Werdum fans out there.

I thought Nogueira's whole game plan for that fight was disastrous, he took a hiding looking for takedowns, which the majority of them being blocked because his posture was terrible. What he did in the OP's video was beautiful, but he absorbed a hell of a lot of punishment in getting there. Had Sylvia's hands been a little heavier or had he been fighting a better boxer he'd have been KO'd in the early goings. IMO.
Bear in mind that he had him down and in side control in the first round, unfortunately just as the round ended. If he'd had 30 more seconds he would have won it then and there.

The talent pool isn't that deep but I could definitely see Sylvia winning a rematch.

That gameplan is suicide for pretty much anyone but Nog, but his chin is so good and he recovers so quickly, unless it gives him decision losses he'll win with it in any fight.

    ...Eventually.

Mark Hunt could pull it off too, if he had Nog's ground game. Those are the only two I can think of with that kind of chin.
