    Nogueira's finishing takedown

There was lots of debate as to what Minotauro was attempting to do when he ended up pulling half guard and finishing the fight with Timmy. I slow-mo'd the transitions. Pretty slick stuff.

Heh. After all that effort Nog had gone to to get that left leg and then Sylvia put it exactly where he wanted it. Poor Timmy.

It actually looked like he might have slipped.

No one intentionally pulls half guard in MMA? Do they?!?

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but if you're not, not being sarcastic, that is, I feel compelled to point out that Nog was getting his ass beat standing. Being under TIm's half guard was a great improvement.

The intent to go down looked pretty intentional to me. The debate about the takedown was more centered around whether we was attempting some sort of a sacrifice throw, or whether he was simply pulling guard to put the fight on the ground.

Yeah, he looks like he was going to try and throw Sylvia, but his right leg seems to slip forward and he hits the ground flat on his back (you can see the impact on his body in your slow-mo).

Maybe old Timmy was heavier than he thought?

Still, he recovered with class, that sweep was awesome.

I think he faked the double then pulled him down looking to transition straight into that sweep, which Sylvia blocked the first couple of times. I don't understand why Sylvia then put his leg in the exact place where he must have known Nogueira wanted it.
