WTF is this dragoncrap? v. anklelocks
So while talking to tenebrous about various ankle locks from bottom half guard, I come on these two. WTF is this ****? Do people actually tap TO A FUCKING LOCK DOWN? If so, fucking good, you deserve that ****.
Also, who are these guys and what are their credentials?
YouTube- ankle lock half guard demo
YouTube- foot lock from half-guard
I would think the only people who would tap/let this happen are:
2. ***** faggots.
Both of which are sometimes one and the same.
I think this is a move coined the electric chair.
Thats looks just... bad, in both cases. The first hold looks like it leaves at least half of your upper body unguarded and the second looks far to complex to pull off in any serious manner.
Either these locks are effecting a different area than we are looking at or I just am not getting it because that doesn't seem like an effective ankle lock or toe hold. The top video might just be the guy has very tight muscles in his legs and cant take the stretch. The second video looks like he might be squeezing the calf which might be painful enough to tap. Still doesn't look very high percentage.
No. electric chair splits someone's legs. That's the submission.

On top of that, in the first video, nobody would ever let you just pick them up like that unless they were SEVERELY under your weight, never been in a fight or doesn't know how to grapple.

To be fair they have competition vids:
YouTube- USDA Martial Arts
The first video, as mentioned, isn't the Electric Chair it's more of a "Banana Split". I don't think I've ever seen it set up like he does it in the video, but I've definitely seen the base technique before and seen people tap to it. It's not an ankle lock though, it's a groin stretch. Trying it on some people would be a waste of time but if someone isn't very flexible then yes it can certainly be effective. I just wouldn't get to that technique the way he shows it. Generally I've seen it used against over aggressive beginners who are trying to slide up the body before they've cleared their legs and leave themselves off balance with little to no weight on the front leg.
The second video is, in theory, a pretty straight forward ankle attack/toe hold although I would consider it more of a technique to annoy someone and get them to move than an actual submission. He's blocking the toes from moving with his inside leg and then twisting the heel with his other leg. Interesting trick, I just dont know that I would put it in my toolkit as a primary move.
And yes, I've tapped people via leg lockdown but they were total noobs and were more caught by surprise than anything else.
I hate the USDA tournaments.
