Straight Lead question

Initially, JKD, and Boxing I think, conceived to have the smarter hand in the front side.
Boxing changed, and also most of JKD practitioners now mantain the stronger side on rear, but it stills as a personal choice.

In your opinion, is straight lead a good choice?

If you only get one good punch in a fight do you want it to be your lead or power shot?

My left is faster and has more versatility as a hook. But when I want to knock someone down I use my right.
