Except these guys are the norm, not the exception. Last i checked, only three major american MMA camps are led by MMA fighters(Quest, Xtreme Couture, Miletich) I don't think Hammer House, Team Punishment, or Lion's Den do much of anything these days, if they even still exist.

How many are run by coaches with no competitive experience in any of: BJJ, Wrestling, or MT? I don't think anyone has a problem training for MMA at Sityodtong even though DellaGrotte's comp experience is MT only.

Sure, but that's not what you said. You said they were idiots if they trained with someone who had fought in MMA. To be a competitor you need athletic talent. To be a coach, especially a striking or conditioning coach, you don't need anything of the sort. The competencies are not co-extensive.

I am about to revive this threat from the dead.
American Top team is now in Canada and has certified a Fang Shen Do Kung Fu instructor.(my former instructor)
Fang Shen Do has a megathread on Bullshido about a guy named Patenaude along with his intructors are accused of McDojoism and cultism.
