Shawn Tompkins at Xtreme Couture 0-4 Took a hell of a beating, but teaches great stand up and striking to some very talented cats.

Except these guys are the norm, not the exception. Last i checked, only three major american MMA camps are led by MMA fighters(Quest, Xtreme Couture, Miletich) I don't think Hammer House, Team Punishment, or Lion's Den do much of anything these days, if they even still exist.

How many are run by coaches with no competitive experience in any of: BJJ, Wrestling, or MT? I don't think anyone has a problem training for MMA at Sityodtong even though DellaGrotte's comp experience is MT only.

Sure, but that's not what you said. You said they were idiots if they trained with someone who had fought in MMA. To be a competitor you need athletic talent. To be a coach, especially a striking or conditioning coach, you don't need anything of the sort. The competencies are not co-extensive.

Allegedly, there is at least one karate school in Memphis that has done this to add "MMA" classes to their curriculum, I'm praying that this is not true because Top Team is one of the most respectable schools/fight teams in the world right now and if they are selling out to McDojoism like this...is there hope for any of us?
I am about to revive this threat from the dead.
American Top team is now in Canada and has certified a Fang Shen Do Kung Fu instructor.(my former instructor)
Fang Shen Do has a megathread on Bullshido about a guy named Patenaude along with his intructors are accused of McDojoism and cultism.
