Egar vs Maynard UFC Fight Night 13

Is this really fair? Should'nt he be at least fighting Nate Diaz instead of Maynard? I know matchmaking is pretty shady in the UFC but this is a little too much isn't it?

Frank Edgar. Because Gray Maynard has no wins over anyone near a contending position. Edgar has wins over Tyson Griffin and Spencer Fischer. If Gray is fighting Edgar then Diaz should be getting a title shot. Who are you putting your money on and why?

This gives Edgar a bump with the TUF card. I'm sure he's fine with it, though someone like Huerta would be a better next opponent.

Of all the matches to bitch about this is one of the least lopsided. It may even be a good fight..... if Frank is such a superior fighter you should only have to worry about the fighting lasting for 20 or 30 seconds right???

Frank Edgar and the opponents he's faced seemed to impress me a lot. I usually don't care about Maynard's fights except for the fact that he's facing Edgar this time. I don't know about 20 or 30 seconds but I'd say Maynard would be lucky to get past the first round. Although 2008 could become just an extension of 2007. Flying yoga wristlock by Maynard?

This is actually a relevant fight for edgar. His strength in the fights I've seen has really been his wrestling. Maynard is a better wrestler. Is Edgar well rounded enough to win this fight?

Maynard's more accomplished in scholastic wrestling than Edgar, but they're not far off. It's not a given that Gray will outwrestle him.

After seeing Maynard's improved standup in his last fight, I definitely think this'll be a great match.

I don't like this matchup, and I actually agree with the OP. What is Maynard doing fighting Edgar? Maynard may be marketable but he doesn't deserve this yet. Edgar has positioned himself to be fighting someone accomplished within the division. This is a step down for him. Put it this way, Maynard is way behind Griffin and Edgar defeated Griffin.
