I think you're imagining more investment in this than there is. I like your varrot rant and I'm glad we can both agree that you're a douche. Be my valentine.

Now here's a GB related Question, no offense meant, Just wondering how closely they stick to this? Is it usual to get promoted right on the mark. (not that its bad, might mean they teach well.) OR does it merely serve as a sort of minimum time spent?

I've always wondered that as well. How many days per week is required to achieve that?

I actually know this, it was two, as I trained at the Gracie Barra in Miami for four-days around Christmas. Nice guys, didn't even make me wear the Gi.

I've seen a lot of variation. Under my old BB you got a white belt stripe every-time you won your tournament division, and blue had something to do with winning. This seems to be the way the Carlson guys do it in Chicago.

I'm about 500% more worried about the Blue to Purple though.

Two days at 1.5 hours a day?

Edit: In this case approximately 96 hours, give or take, is blue belt. Interesting. If I had started with that school last year I'd easily be blue belt by now, if they stuck by this, possibly a stripe as well. Damn me and my financial and locational situation not allowing it.

That looks like the IBJJF's minimum times. Chances of getting belts that quickly are tiny, but as for the effectiveness of BJJ, theres no question, and Gracie Barra schools are very good (though i am hugely biased)

In my experience at the Gracie Barra HQ in Irvine, it's a minimum time requirement if going at least two times per week. It took me I think a year and two or three months to get my blue and it looks like it takes 3-4 years for most people to get from blue to purple.
