    snap kicks in the octagon

Is it jus me or do snapping style kicks seems to be eerily lacking usage in modern MMA?

I don't see how a jump snap kick to the sternum is any riskier than a head kick attempt.. and a non jumping front kick is very easy to break things with if you perfom the technique properly.

I also see a distinct lack of side kicks, snapping or otherwise..

Are the ball of the foot and the side of the foot viewed as non viable striking surfaces to "real" martial artists these days?

    Risk VS Reward.

Head kicks end fights, snap kicks rarely end fights. Plus I say a snap kick leave you more open for a take down.

regardless you do see push kicks in MMA

OP, take MT and Jiu Jitsu out of your style field. There is no way you are actually training either if you have this question.

Hey, White Shark, I am curious about this. I trained kenpo, and have had no MT experience. What would the answer be for someone ignorant of MT? Thanks.

Luke Cummo uses them pretty well but he's the only fighter I've seen do it. I re-incorporated it in my sparring style after watching him fight and they work for me.
