Style: Muay Thai - Sub Grappling--
I found the possibility of taking low kicks to the knee ruled out launching side kicks from a regular "side on" stance as he does in the video. Going from TKD to MT was an education in itself but especially as regards the use of side kicks. I still use them (can be suprising to the average MT'er) but usually with a more "dead weighted" leg like the other thai kicks, and almost always from a square stance and just after another technique or feint of some kind.
The guy in the vid seems all TKD (right leg stance and side kick as primary weapon). That stuff didn't work for me when the contact level was raised. Usually the kicks I use now just depend on the circumstance. -
